The other day, while having a coffee in the coolest corner of Poblenou, my eyes caught something that would change my weekend: an ad for a clandestine party in a warehouse transformed into an art studio.

What I experienced that night was so mind-blowing that I went on an urban odyssey in search of more cultural adrenaline: from murals telling stories on every corner to concerts in the shadows and activities without spending a euro. does it happen to you too?

If you're thirsty for fun, this is the Agenda I've put together for you. Barcelona always has an ace up its sleeve, and this weekend is no exception!

What to do this weekend in Barcelona

Indie Dev Day

📅 I love Indie Dev Day because it's a breath of fresh air in the world of videogames. What's better than seeing independent projects, full of passion and creativity, far from the big corporations? If you're bored with the usual and you're looking for innovation and risk, this is the place for you. It's a close experience, where you can chat directly with the creators, which always leaves me inspired.

From 11 to 13 October 2024
📍 La Farga in L'Hospitalet

In-Edit Festival

📅 In-Edit is one of my favourites. I love documentaries, and if they focus on music, I can't resist! This festival manages to capture the magic behind bands and music genres, revealing stories we don't normally know. It's the perfect place to connect with the emotions that music brings with it, while immersing yourself in the big screen.

26 October - 5 November 2024
📍 Multicines Aribau, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes 565

Faig Gaudí Flea Market

There's something special about this market that always keeps me coming back. Not only is it located on one of the most beautiful avenues in Barcelona, but the products you find are unique pieces, made by local artisans. Best of all, the atmosphere is relaxed, perfect for unwinding as you stroll among the stalls, looking for that little something to take you home with a smile on your face.

📅 First and second weekend of October
📍 Avinguda Gaudí

Beer Festival Barcelona

I'm passionate about craft beer, and the *Beer Festival Barcelona* is an event I don't miss. What gets me hooked is the diversity of beers you can try, more than 150, from all over the world. In addition, with live music and *food trucks* offering delicious food, the atmosphere becomes a party among friends where laughter and toasts are never lacking.

📅 From 13 to 15 October 2024
📍 La Farga de L'Hospitalet

BAUM Fest: A Celebration of Urban Art and Culture

BAUM Fest fascinates me because I always find something that surprises me. Whether it's a breakdancing exhibition, a live tattoo or the vibrant street art displays, this festival is pure creative adrenaline. If you're drawn to urban culture and all that surrounds it, this event is an explosion of talent and authenticity that will leave you wanting more.

Oktoberfest Barcelona

Oktoberfest Barcelona is the perfect plan if you like a festive atmosphere and, of course, good beer. There's nothing like sharing a big mug of German beer with friends, surrounded by live music and eating pretzels. What I enjoy most is that feeling of being at a giant party, where everyone is there to have a good time. It's a little piece of Germany in the heart of Barcelona.

📅 From 4 to 15 October 2024

Handmade Candle Workshop

This workshop is a real treat for the senses. I love it because it's a way to relax and unwind while creating something with your own hands. Making a candle while enjoying a glass of wine is a winning combination for a quiet afternoon in Gràcia. Perfect for disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of the city, plus you get to take home something that smells amazing!

📍 Taller de To (Gràcia)
 📅(Availability subject to booking)

Say it Loud Festival

Say it Loud is a festival that goes beyond music, it's a celebration of Afro-descendant culture in all its splendour. What attracts me is the freshness and energy, from the concerts to the talks, each proposal is an invitation to reflect and enjoy. I love this festival because I always discover new voices and cultural perspectives that take me out of my comfort zone.

📅 During the month of October.

Pixar World Barcelona

Pixar World is the perfect opportunity to relive the films that marked our childhood. What I like most is how they manage to transport you to the universes of *Toy Story*, *Monsters S.A.* and *Finding Nemo*, among others. It's an ideal plan to go with family or friends, and enjoy that nostalgia while you immerse yourself in scenarios that seem to be taken directly from the screen. It's pure magic!

Spring Agenda 2024 in Barcelona

Easter 2024 in Barcelona

Palm Sunday: Blessing with Style

In Barcelona, Palm Sunday is not a mere religious formality; it is a parade of style and faith where palms become the must-have accessory of the season. Here, tradition dictates that if you're a girl, your palm must be a floral work of art, and if you're a boy, get ready to carry a palm frond that would put Hercules himself in trouble. To take a stroll through Barcelona's churches on that day is to plunge into a sea of devotion and design. And you know what? It's the perfect time for a quiet tour of the city, with less sightseeing and more local stories.

Chocolate Museum: Easter Eggs Workshop

The Chocolate Museum gets its act together at Easter and organizes Easter egg workshops where cocoa is king and you, the apprentice chocolatier. From Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday, this temple of sweets becomes Willy Wonka's dream factory in Catalan version. Ideal if you go with the kids or if you have a sweet tooth without a cure. And if you don't make it in time for the workshop, don't worry, the museum has chocolate eggs that are edible jewels.

The Processions: A Spectacle with Soul

Apart from the monas and palms, Barcelona dresses up in solemnity with the Easter processions. Penitents that seem to come from another era walk through the historic streets, creating a bridge between the present and the past, between the city and its cultural heritage. It is a unique opportunity to see the most introspective and traditional Barcelona, with the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi and the Church of Sant Jaume as backdrops to this theater of faith.

Las Monas de Pascua: The Sweet End of the Festival

The monas de Pascua are the finishing touch of Easter in Barcelona. More than a dessert, they are an explosion of chocolate creativity that makes children (and not so children) count the days to sink their teeth into these edible works of art. On the Monday after Easter, the city's pastry shops turn into sweet art galleries. Don't leave Barcelona without trying one, it's the perfect souvenir to end your Easter getaway.

April 2024 in Barcelona

Sant Jordi: A sea of Books and Roses

On April 23, the streets of Barcelona are transformed into the most vibrant setting for the celebration of Sant Jordi, the World Book Day proclaimed by UNESCO. This unique tradition not only envelops the city in a magical atmosphere, but also invites thousands to dive into an ocean of pages and petals, where books and roses become the true protagonists. Sant Jordi transcends being a simple festivity; it is the cultural meeting point par excellence, a day where Barcelona throbs to the rhythm of culture and love, offering in every corner a show of affection and literature.

The vibrant essence of Barcelona is magnified with Primavera Sound, transforming the city into the most festival-like sanctuary of the international music scene. With over four hundred artists, this colossus of festivals stands as a beacon of global music, attracting legends and rising stars such as Pulp, Vampire Weekend, Justice, Lana del Rey, Sza, and PJ Harvey. The kickoff kicks off on May 29 with a totally free opening of the doors to the world with Phoenix headlining the stage, while the grand finale is reserved for June 2 with a monumental show by ANOTR, The Blessed Madonna, Chloé Caillet, and Mochakk.

Gràcia Vibra: The Heart of Barcelona at a Party

Gràcia is not just a neighborhood of Barcelona; in August, it becomes the soul of the party, the place where creativity and tradition go hand in hand in an explosion of color and joy. The Festa Major de Gràcia is more than an event; it is a declaration of artistic intentions, a challenge to the imagination where the streets are dressed up with decorations that seem to come out of a dream.

From the opening chupinazo to the last musical echo, Gràcia bustles with life with a seemingly endless range of activities: from giants that stroll majestically to parades that are an outpouring of joy, through workshops where you can let your creativity run wild and vermouths where the toast costs nothing. But the real show is in the streets, transformed into open-air galleries that dazzle locals and foreigners, turning Gràcia into the scene of an unparalleled party.

I recommend you not to miss the festivities of Gràcia, as you will not only enjoy Catalan art and culture in a unique way, but you will also be part of a celebration that pulses with the energy and spirit of Barcelona.

Llums BCN: Barcelona's Night Dresses Up with Art

When night falls, Barcelona doesn't sleep; it transforms into a canvas of light and shadows with the Llum BCN festival. More than an event, it is a visual odyssey that attracts eyes from all over the world, turning Poblenou and Plaza de las Glòries into epicenters of a luminous artistic revolution. Here, more than 240,000 curious souls are immersed in a world where light is the brush and the city, the painting.

For three nights, avant-garde creativity takes to the streets, with installations that defy perception and showcase the genius of international artists and the brightest minds from local schools of design and architecture. Llum BCN is not just a festival; it is a journey through innovation and beauty, where every corner reveals secrets wrapped in light.

Llum BCN is like entering a dream where Barcelona is illuminated in ways you never imagined. Seeing the city transform into a stage of light is simply magical. It envelops you in an atmosphere of innovation and art that makes you feel part of something special. Each installation surprises you, inspires you and somehow changes you. It is an experience that, personally, I consider a must-see to understand the beauty and creativity that this city can reach when night falls.

Every time I go for a walk to escape from the city I end up walking in the same place, and although I love it and I could spend hours there, I always think that there is so much to discover, paths to get lost in... do you feel the same?

If you crave novelties like beautiful villages where every alley and every stone has a story to tell, unexpected corners near Barcelona or magical places that promise day trips full of charm, I have compiled here some of my favorites.

where will your steps take you this time?

One Step Away from Barcelona: Unmissable Hiking Routes to Discover Catalonia

Dust off your boots as Barcelona hides natural secrets just a stone's throw from your doorstep, ready to be explored. From paths winding through mountains to shortcuts to hidden beaches, these hiking trails are calling out to your adventurous spirit. Get out of the city for a day, fill your lungs with fresh air and discover places as wonderful as these.

The Carretera de les Aigües: The Road with the Best Views of Barcelona

This road is a gem for those of us who love both the city and nature. The panoramic view of Barcelona with the Mediterranean in the background is simply incomparable. Ideal for a family walk where the beauty of the city unfolds before your eyes at every step.

don't feel strong enough to complete it? No problem, the Vallvidriera funicular saves you half the way. And to make sure you lack nothing, the route is equipped with rest areas, areas for an impromptu picnic and fountains to quench your thirst.

Montjuic: Your Green Oasis in the Heart of Barcelona

I love this green oasis in the heart of Barcelona for its perfect blend of culture, history and nature. Climbing from Plaza España to Montjuic Castle, past secret gardens and views of the harbor, turns an ordinary day into an urban adventure.

When you decide to return to civilization, you have two options: get off on the funicular or, if you feel like continuing to enjoy the outdoors, lose yourself in the gardens of Joan Brossa, Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer or the famous garden of Mossèn Costa i Llobera, better known as the cactus garden.

Conquer the Montseny: Adventure to Turó de l'Home

Venturing to the Turó de l'Home is to reconnect with the essence of nature. This route is not only a rewarding challenge but an immersion in the pure beauty of the Montseny Natural Park, from beech forests to breathtaking views.

From the Santa Fe parking lot, be prepared for a moderate but incredibly rewarding challenge. The crossing not only takes you to conquer the highest point of Montseny but also to discover the peak of Les Agudes. And as if that were not enough, the descent reserves an unforgettable natural spectacle: a beech forest that looks like something out of a fairy tale. With more than 13 kilometers of route and between 4 to 5 hours of walking, this route is an invitation to challenge your limits while you immerse yourself in the pure beauty of Montseny.

Monserrat and the Roca Foradada: A Hidden Treasure in the Heart of Catalonia

For those who think they've seen it all in and around Barcelona, Monserrat offers a unique experience that combines spirituality, nature and adventure. And within this emblematic destination, the route to the Roca Foradada takes the palms for being one of the most impressive and photogenic that you can undertake.

Starting from the parking of Can Maçana (remember that it is payable on weekends), this route of about 5 kilometers invites you to explore the west side of Monserrat, where the magic of the place is manifested in every step. Do not miss the opportunity to stop at the viewpoints to admire the famous needles of the mountain, a natural spectacle that leaves you speechless.

Explore the Llobregat Delta: Nature and Airplanes South of Barcelona

The proximity to nature and the possibility of watching airplanes taking off is a curious combination that fascinates me. It's a place where wildlife and technology are closely observed, ideal for a quick getaway from the urban routine.

From El Prat, set off on foot or get a little closer by public transport or in your car (remember, parking is charged on weekends). Get ready to walk the last stretch of the Llobregat River, choosing from several trails that will take you to beaches that are the best kept secret in the area.

El Garraf: Between Mountains and Vineyards, A Route for Everyone

Among its many trails, the semicircular itinerary that links Canyelles, Olèrdola and Puig de l'Àliga stands out for its beauty and accessibility for adventurers of all ages. This 13-kilometer journey, which takes you to conquer the 464 meters of Puig de l'Àliga, becomes an experience in less than 4 hours.

The route, which is a spectacle for both the eyes and the spirit, allows you to immerse yourself in the essence of the Garraf, right on the border with the Alt Pendès, a land of contrasts where nature intermingles with historical heritage and vineyards.

Burriac Castle: Medieval Getaway with Sea Views

I am attracted to this route for the feeling of traveling back in time while enjoying sea views. It's a medieval getaway that offers more than history: it's a visual adventure from the heights of the Maresme.

Perfect for those looking for an accessible challenge, this hike won't ask you to be an elite athlete, but it will reward you with the majesty of a castle towering 400 meters above sea level. Upon arrival, the views of the coastline will take your breath away, making every step of the climb an indelible memory. Vic

This place is a trip back in time. I love Vic for its ability to tell the history of Catalonia in every corner. From its imposing Roman Temple to the eclectic Cathedral, Vic is a feast for history and architecture lovers. But what really draws me in are its markets in the Plaza Mayor; they are a melting pot of local life and a testament to the flavor and culture of the region. It is the perfect place for those looking for an authentic experience, full of tradition and local flavor.

Mura

The peace and medieval beauty of Mura gets me every time. This small town is like a refuge from the modern world, where the cobblestone streets and ancient buildings invite you to lose time and find serenity. I would recommend it to anyone looking to unwind and immerse themselves in the depths of living history, in a setting that is both a spiritual retreat and a time capsule.

Cardona

Cardona is synonymous with medieval majesty. What makes Cardona so fascinating to me is its castle, a fortress that not only dominates the landscape but tells stories of power, repopulation and legacy. Beyond its history, the salt mines offer a unique adventure, an opportunity to explore natural wonders sculpted by the earth itself. I recommend Cardona for its unique blend of history, architecture and natural adventure, a true treasure just a stone's throw from Barcelona.

Berga

Sitges is the perfect escape for those seeking sun, sea and a dash of culture. It offers not only idyllic beaches but also an old town full of surprises, from emblematic architecture to museums that are a toast to modernism. It is the ideal place for those who want to combine relaxation on the beach with the charm of history and art.

Sitges

Sitges, that little Mediterranean corner that needs no introduction, is the beach paradise par excellence when Barcelona starts to sweat the summer heat. Here, beaches like Sant Sebastià or Aiguadolç are not just a piece of coastline; they are the setting for your next summer story, with sand that looks like gold under your feet and nudist spots in Balmins for those who dare to do anything. But, beware, Sitges is not just lying in the sun; its old town is a labyrinth of surprises, with gems like the Parish of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla, the town hall with an air of another century and the Bacardi Museum, where modernism toasts with you.

Caldes de Montbui

I am attracted to Caldes de Montbui for its rich heritage of thermal waters, a gift from the Romans that remains a treasure today. Its spas are not only a journey into the past but also a wellness experience that connects body and soul. In addition, the influence of these waters in the local gastronomy adds a unique flavor to the visit.

Rupit and Pruït

These villages are like a portal to another era, where the modern hustle and bustle is exchanged for the song of history and nature. To cross the suspension bridge of Rupit is to enter a world where every stone, every street, tells an ancient story. And the surrounding natural beauty, such as the impressive Salt de Sallent, turns the visit into a magical experience that unites the past with the eternal beauty of nature.
