Discover the Descalzas Reales Monastery on a guided tour for small groups, and admire a convent founded by Juana de Austria, youngest daughter of Carlos V and sister of Felipe II, the place where she was born, lived and where today His tomb is today.

Enjoy the exquisite decoration inside, with frescoes on the main staircase attributed to Claudio Coello and, around the upper cloister, chapels decorated with a 16th-century image of a recumbent Christ attributed to Gaspar Becerra, which is carried in a procession on Good Friday.

You can also admire the choir with its original stalls, where today the community gathers to pray, decorated by a magnificent Dolorosa by Pedro de Mena and here are the tombs of the Empress Maria and her daughter the Infanta Margarita.
