Start at Portimão at Cais Vasco da Gama and navigate the Rio Arade River. Pass the fishing village Ferragudo, the 15th-century Dom João Castle, and Praia Grande de Ferragudo, then enter the Atlantic Ocean.

Head east to see Praia do Pintadinho, the Ponta do Altar Lighthouse, Praia dos Caneiros, and Praia da Afurada. On a cliff, find a 2,000-year-old Roman watchtower.
